Biography
Anna Lee Rakes Meade, 90 years old, of Daniels, WV died during the early morning of March 8, 2010 at Raleigh General Hospital. Born April 3, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ines Worley Rakes. Anna was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and Concord College with a B.S. degree in Education. She received her Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. She was a retired teacher, offering 42 years of service to the Raleigh County school system. Anna was a member of the Daniels Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Carson H. Meade, II, one grandson, Carson H. Meade, III and one great-grandson, Caiden Meade. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Paul (Eileen) Smith.
Anna was an organ donor and will be cremated. There will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
